About The Quintessential Quintuplets

The Quintessential Quintuplets (Go-toubun no Hanayome) is a Japanese romantic comedy manga series written and illustrated by Negi Haruba, serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine from 2017 to 2020. The story follows Fuutarou Uesugi, a poor but brilliant high school student hired as a private tutor for the Nakano sisters — five identical quintuplets who all need help passing their classes to graduate. As Fuutarou works to bring up each sister's grades, he becomes entangled in their lives and feelings, with the manga famously framed around the mystery of which sister he ultimately marries. The anime adaptation began with the first season in 2019, continued with The Quintessential Quintuplets ∬ (Season 2) in 2021, and concluded with The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie in 2022, which adapted the manga's emotional finale. A new sequel film and anniversary projects have continued to expand the franchise into 2025.
