Kill la Kill is a Japanese anime television series produced by Studio Trigger, directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi and written by Kazuki Nakashima — the same creative team behind Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. The series premiered in 2013 as Trigger's debut original production and quickly became a cult favorite for its over-the-top action, bold visual style, and razor-sharp satire. The story follows Ryuko Matoi, a transfer student wielding half of a giant scissor blade as she searches for her father's killer at the tyrannical Honnouji Academy, ruled by student council president Satsuki Kiryuin. Armed with the sentient sailor uniform Senketsu, Ryuko battles her way through the Elite Four and uncovers a conspiracy involving Life Fibers and the fate of humanity itself.
